Leadership Transitions Coming to Reality Kids

In the time that Callie Jones has led Reality Kids in our church family, we’ve seen a lot of change. Location, size, demographics, curriculum, teachers, kids–just about everything has seen significant change. She’s recruited, collaborated, developed, sacrificed and this month she’s doing the one thing she hasn’t done: transition out of leading Kids.

For some time now Callie has sensed God calling her to serve the body in a new capacity. Late last year the elders came to affirm Callie’s desire to serve in a new way, and earlier this year she announced this desire to the body.

Today we are excited to announce that Jake Gamble, former pastor of Olympia Metro Church, will be stepping in to provide leadership of Kids at Reality. Throughout the month of May Jake will be taking on more and more of Callie’s responsibilities with the final handover set to take place in early June. At this point, his position of leadership over Reality Kids will continue to be a volunteer position which is overseen by the Elders.

Jake has a huge heart to see our kids caught up in the mission of God as they experience the Gospel in our community. He will be leading a team of very capable leaders each overseeing a different piece of Reality’s Kids Ministry: Cassie Johnson (Nursery), Kristy Packard (Early Ed.), Brittny Zepp (K-5), Administration (Annie Denning), Brigitta Hamilton (Finance) and Anita Roedell (Curriculum).

As Jake begins to step in to leadership throughout the month of May your patience, grace and feedback are invited. We would also ask that you join us in intentionally using this month to pray for Jake and his family as he steps in to this role of leadership.

Spring Cleaning Day

It’s time to push up our sleeves and give our building some attention.

On April 13th, starting at 10 a.m., we are going to thoroughly clean Reality, top to bottom, inside and out. We are looking for 25-35 people who would be interested in helping get things cleaned up and shaken out.

If you’re available to help clean, contact us at admin@realityolympia.com.

We’ll provide lunch and cleaners/solutions. If you have extra gloves, rags, and brooms, let us know and bring them with you!

“Service of Darkness” Good Friday March 29th

Using candles, we will retell the events of Jesus’ birth, life, and earthly ministry leading up to his final moments on the cross. As people come to join Jesus and His ministry, more and more candles will be lit. And then, as people turn and walk away, all the candles will be extinguished. Concluding with His final words on the cross, the service will end, the “Jesus” candle will be put out, and the service will end in darkness and silence.

Come join us at 7:00 PM to remember the life and death of our Savior. It’s a story that will forever change your celebration of Easter.

Childcare will be provided downstairs for ages birth-5 years old.

Telling the Story

We want to invite all of the REALITY family to join us this Sunday for a special time of sharing at all three of our regular gatherings (9 AM, 11 AM, and 7 PM). Over the past 6 months, God has been moving among our leadership in beautiful and profound ways that continue to shape our lives and church family. We are so excited to share the stories and let you hear for yourselves all that He is up to. It’s a story you are not going to want to miss!

All our gathering times will remain the same and we will have REALITY Kids ministry downstairs like normal. Don’t forget to set your clocks!

February 3rd, No Evening Gathering

The Super Bowl is a day when America comes together to eat, party and celebrate. It’s about community. It’s about extravagant celebration. And it is a wide open opportunity for us as a community to learn to live as neighbors who, like Jesus, make the party better.

We will have 9am and 11am gatherings as normal, but no 7pm gathering. Take this opportunity to hang out with new people and invite your community into celebration.

Our King of Glory has come! Honor and remember him this week as we step beyond Advent into present, daily acknowledgement of his reign!

Dec. 24 - Write to God expressing what about him you find most glorious. Read Isaiah 40.
Dec. 25 - Read Isaiah 43:1-7. What does it mean to you that you have been created to display God’s glory?

The King has arrived! Live under his reign this week:

Dec. 26 - How will you be defined by the promises of the God who remembers, instead of present struggle? Read Psalm 98; Luke 1:72
Dec. 27 - Justice rests in the hands of our King. How can you look on injustice with hope? Read Psalm 72; Matthew 2:11.
Dec. 28 - Immanuel has come and remains by his Spirit. Ask him to speak to you and lead you today. Read Psalm 46; Matthew 1:23.

Dec. 17 – What does God’s promise to make his dwelling with humanity mean to you? Read Leviticus 26:3-13; John 1:14
Dec. 18 – Why have you believed God to be distant from you? Read Psalm 139
Dec. 19 – Think about a time you felt God was distant. How did you respond? Read Habakkuk 3.
Dec. 20 – List seven thing that keep you from hearing the voice of God and the needy around you. Read Psalm 130.
