What We Believe

We believe in the Triune God.
We believe in the Triune God, the Creator of heaven and earth who has eternally existed in the supreme relational community of Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

Each person of the trinity is equal in nature, in power, in authority, and in attributes, and ultimately exists as one in love. He alone is God and there is no other.

We affirm that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.
We believe that Jesus, as fully God and fully man, makes the invisible God visible through His incarnation and carries out the mission of reconciling heaven and earth (God to His fallen creation) through His death, burial, resurrection, and ascension.

Conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of a virgin, Jesus demonstrated through His life the priorities of God and announced the arrival of His kingdom. He lived a life without sin and, just as the Scripture foretold, came as the Suffering Servant who laid down His life to defeat sin and death. After His resurrection, Jesus ascended into heaven where He reigns as King and Lord and awaits the day when He will come again to earth to fully usher in His kingdom. He is now the Head of the church, His body, which carries on His continuing presence in the world, perpetuating and pursuing His ministry of reconciliation.

We affirm that the Holy Spirit is active in our world today.
We believe that the Holy Spirit is the very presence of God who convicts the world of sin, indwells His redeemed creation, and graces the church with gifts and power to carry out His mission of redemption.

Because we desire the fullness of what God would have for us, we remain open to all of the spiritual gifts and place no emphasis on any particular one. All are sought, all are celebrated, and all must be practiced within a context of love. Anyone seeking to live out the kingdom faithfully in the present must continually submit to the Spirit and His control.

We affirm that all people are made in the image and likeness of God.

Despite being the culmination of God’s good creation, our sin (in Adam and by choice) has marred that image and separated us from fellowship with Him. We believe that Jesus’ death and resurrection as the 2nd Adam is the only means of restoring all that was lost.

We affirm that the Bible is the inspired Word of God.
We believe that God, the Great Communicator, has chosen to reveal Himself, His world, and His mission through the Bible- the accurate, authoritative, and inspired Holy Scriptures.

To accomplish this task, God the Spirit has breathed inspiration into prophets, poets, kings, and other authors over the course of the centuries. Properly understood and lived out, these writings are the very Word of God used to draw us closer to Him, to transform our sinful ways, and align us with God and His heart for this world.  Ultimately, we believe that truth is not just something to be comprehended, but a Person- Jesus- who is to be loved and followed.
