Advent 2020

John’s gospel declares it loud and clear: “The Word became flesh and dwelt among us” (John 1:14). In this season, we celebrate the unthinkable incarnation: that the Divine eternal Son of God willingly became human, taking on all its beauty and limitations. The Christmas story is a very embodied story of love. A womb. A baby. Flesh and blood. Birth. Poor shepherds. Rich kings. Parents. Every line of the story reveals a host of humanity scrambling to respond to the good news of God. The very method of incarnation reminds us that God loves, cherishes and dignifies our humanity. By being willing to take on humanity, Jesus is not out to destroy our humanity but to redeem it, elevate it. In a year where our bodies are as weary and worn out as ever, come rediscover some Advent good news. The Word became flesh and dwelt among us.
